Vladislav has more than 15 years’ experience representing clients in cross-border disputes and domestic litigation.
Before joining Sameta, Vladislav worked for a number of years at the international law firms Baker Botts, Simmons & Simmons, and Gide Loyrette Nouel.
Successful projects let by Vladislav include: representing leading oil and gas companies and the Russian Federation in litigation and international commercial arbitration, including under US and English law; advising on various aspects of M&A transactions in the oil and gas industry and other sectors; the establishment of joint ventures with the participation of the EBRD.
Vladislav graduated from Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) (1994). He holds a Masters degree in Law (LL.M.) from the John Marshall Law School, Chicago, USA, (1996).
Vladislav has fluent knowledge of English.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Advising on legal proceedings involving a major automotive holding in connection with foreclosure under a mortgage
Recovering debt owed by a major Russian airline under promissory notes: presentation of the promissory notes for payment, protesting non-payment of the notes, compilation of the evidentiary base, participation in legal proceedings
Resolving a dispute over the return of a deposit paid by a major foreign airline in connection with the contemplated entry into an aircraft lease under English law. On the basis of the legal opinion produced the deposit was returned to the client before legal proceedings commenced
Representing a leading Russian non-ferrous metals mining company in cases involving administrative offences, including lodging appeals against reports and decisions on administrative offences, both before authorised government agencies (in the framework of an administrative inquiry) and in court
Representing a major foreign airline in employment disputes, including disputes connected with the termination of employees and disputes on recovery of debts owed to the client by employees who were laid off. Representing the client in the mediation of employment disputes
Projects involving taxation of subsidiaries and dependent companies of leading Russian companies of the gas and energy sector: lodging appeals against/challenging the results of field tax audits
Advising Russian companies that are part of a leading international industrial group in the aluminium sector in respect of field and desk tax audits and lodging appeals against/contesting in court the tax authorities’ decisions taken on the basis of such audits
Representing a subsidiary of a leading gas and energy company in relation to claims brought by the tax authorities on the basis of a field tax audit in which it was argued that the client obtained an unjustified tax benefit
